Hello!

I'm Megan.

I'm a game writer, editor, and narrative designer based in Seattle, Washington.

As a mixed-race Japanese American, I'm fluent in Japanese and familiar with both American and Japanese culture, particularly the geekier sides of both. My background has been invaluable for localization projects and inspires me to help those whose voices often overlooked, including BIPOC and other marginalized creators who deserve more representation in games and storytelling.

I'm most excited about writing for cozy, fantasy, and sci-fi games, but I'm equally comfortable adapting my skills to a wide range of genres. My portfolio highlights game writing and design exercises from The Narrative Department's Game Writing Masterclasses, where I practiced writing cutscenes, designing NPCs, and building immersive worlds. I also bring professional editing and publishing experience from my work with indie TTRPGĀ studios, self-published authors, and the South Seattle Emerald's newsroom.

One of the most important lessons I learned while earning my game writing certificate through The Narrative Department was the value of collaboration. From day one, I worked alongside classmates to design stories and solve narrative challenges together, an experience that shaped my approach to game development as deeply cooperative and team-focused.

When I'm not playing video games or writing for them, you can usually find me curled up with a book or (attempting not to) fall off my paddleboard.

Have a story to tell or a game to build? I'd love to collaborate. Let's chat.
